Gone for the weekend

Dear readers,

Due to the recent boom of activity at The Lowdown as of late, I figured this message might be appropriate.

I'll be out of the office for the remainder of the weekend. Hopefully I'll return with an elk to pack in my freezer. If not, at the very least I'll get to watch Aaron Rodgers and the Packers destroy the Eagles Sunday afternoon, which should put me in a fine mood to start the week.

In the meantime, I won't be moderating any comments posted while I'm away. If you post comment on The Lowdown between now and Monday, please be patient. I'll get to comments and post them as soon as I return.

Thanks for stopping by, and Go Pack!

Well, I'm certainly glad that your mixing Packers and Politics didn't jinx the Pack! They are off and running with a fine 2-0 start going into next Monday night's match-up with Da Bears.

But what I really want to know is...

What are your thoughts on Clay Matthews play at linebacker this year?

Yes, the Pack is off to a good start record-wise, but I still have concerns about the offense. I've basically seen two or three good quarters of offensive football out of eight. Now with Clifton's health in question, how well the rookie Bulaga matches up against the likes of Julius Peppers could be the key to the game.

The defense on the other hand, looks pretty least against mediocre teams. We'll see if the Pack are for real on Monday night when they go to Chicago to play the Bears in the 180th installment of sport's greatest rivalry.

As for Matthews...that kid is a MONSTER. On pace for 48 sacks? Let's not get ahead of ourselves. But hot damn if Matthews stays healthy he could easily get 20 or more sacks. He's going to wreak havoc on offenses and open the door for guys like Hawk, Barnett and Raji to pad their sack stats.

Go Pack!

I want to start the American Beer Party--we don't like tea, we enjoy taking the edge off with a cold one, and we have a motto: "If you're selling crazy, we're all stocked up here."
